Parks and ferry pages have their own privacy notices

Tassie Trails is an editorial website. It publishes guides to public walking tracks, mountain bike networks, food and drink regions and day-trip corridors in Tasmania. It is not a shop, a booking engine or a membership club. The personal information it handles is therefore small: what you choose to type into the contact form, and the ordinary technical data that any hosted site needs in order to stay online.

This page explains that handling in plain language. It is general information, not legal advice. Official park, ferry and payment sites have their own notices, and those notices govern what you do on those sites.

Information you submit

The contact form asks for a name, an email address and a message. That is the set we need in order to understand a planning question and to reply. You control what else you put in the message. Please do not send credit-card numbers, passport scans, medical records or other sensitive documents. We cannot store them safely through this form, and we do not need them to point you at a corridor.

The form is delivered using FormSubmit, which transmits the submission to the site’s enquiry inbox. FormSubmit’s terms and privacy information apply to that transmission. Once a message arrives, it can be read by the people who manage tassietrails.com.au. We use it to reply, to correct a page if you have pointed out an error, or to decide that the question belongs with Parks & Wildlife Service Tasmania instead.

We do not sell those messages. We do not use them to build a ranking of venues. We do not add you to a marketing list by default.

Information the site records technically

Hosting and content-delivery systems typically record requests: the page asked for, an IP address, a time, and a browser user-agent. Those logs exist so the site can be kept secure and reliable. They are not an editorial interest in where you walked.

If you follow a link to Parks & Wildlife Service Tasmania, a ferry manager, Wine Tasmania or any other external site, that site’s own logging and privacy rules apply. This notice does not cover them.

Cookies and analytics

The public pages are written to be read, not to profile you for advertising. Any cookie or similar technology that the host or the form service requires to operate is there for security, load or form delivery. If a future analytics tool is added, it should be configured for aggregate measurement, not for following a reader from a wine valley to a bike town.

You can use the site without sending a contact form. Walking the public pages does not require an account.

How long things are kept

Enquiry messages are kept for as long as they are useful to complete a reply or to fix a page, then deleted from active inboxes in the ordinary course of housekeeping. Technical logs follow the host’s retention settings. We cannot speak for FormSubmit’s own retention beyond what that service publishes.

If you want a message removed from the enquiry inbox, write from the same email address and say so. We will take reasonable steps to delete it from systems we control.

Children

The guides are written for adults planning travel, including family days. The contact form is not directed at children. Please do not submit a child’s personal details.

External sources and trademarks

Pages on this site name public places, official managers and industry bodies. Those names remain the property of their owners. Linking to an official page is not an endorsement of every product on that page, and it is not a data-sharing arrangement.

Changes and contact

If this notice changes in a material way, the updated text will appear on this URL. For a privacy question about an enquiry you already sent, use the contact form and say that the message is about privacy. For park-pass account questions, contact Parks & Wildlife Service Tasmania directly.

Questions people ask

What personal information does Tassie Trails collect?
If you use the contact form we receive the name, email address and message you submit. The site host may also record ordinary technical logs such as IP address and browser type. We do not ask for payment details or identity documents.
Who sees a contact-form message?
Messages are delivered through FormSubmit to the site’s enquiry inbox. Staff who read that inbox can see what you sent. FormSubmit’s own privacy terms apply to the transmission.
Do you use cookies or advertising profiles?
The public pages are editorial. Any cookies or logs required to operate the site and its host are for security and reliability, not for building an advertising profile of walkers or riders.

Prefer to write anyway?

The contact form is the way to send a planning question. Read this page first if you want to know what travels with the message.
